Support the Belfast Parks and Recreation Department
There are multiple ways you can support the City of Belfast's Parks and Recreation Department. One of the best ways is joining the Friends of Belfast Parks which is the department's fundraising arm and an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The "Friends of Belfast Parks is a membership-driven, volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation, continued improvement, and respectful use of our local parks and greenspaces. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in our local parks and a desire to help protect and improve them for future generations. We heartily welcome new members and hope you will consider becoming a member. The annual membership fee is quite nominal, but the rewards are immense!" To learn more about this group, please visit the Friends of Belfast Parks. If you find that you'd like to join the FOBP, download this membership form and mail it and your payment to the address provided.
Memorials
While recognizing the importance and purpose of donations and memorials in Belfast, the City has drafted guidelines to assist with preserving the aesthetics, heritage, and maintenance efforts of the City, including parks and varied facilities. At this time, the Donor Bench program has reached capacity, and other donations and memorial requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Memorial requests are to be submitted, in writing, to the City Clerk, who will forward it to the appropriate committee or official to assist the City Council in its review.
