[ARCHIVED] 2nd Annual Belfast Municipal Airport Open House and Fly In To Be Held On Saturday, September 17th

Belfast Chapter 1434 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host its 2nd Annual Airport Open House and Lobster Fly In on Saturday, September 17th (the rain date for this event will be Sunday, September 18th) from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm, at Belfast Municipal Airport on Wright Brothers Drive.

This event is being held to showcase to the public the value of their local airport, as many people in the surrounding area don’t even realize there is an airport in Belfast. Admission to this event is free.

Many aviation related community service organizations will be represented such as Patient Airlift Services, Angel Flight Northeast, LifeFlight of Maine and others.

Breakfast is from 7:30–10:00 and will include eggs, pancakes, bacon, juice, and coffee, all for $7.00. Food trucks will be at the event all day.

Airplanes from throughout the northeast will be flying in including many homebuilts, and there will also be static displays of aircraft from LifeFlight of Maine, athenahealth, and the Maine Forest Service. Additionally, helicopter rides (for a fee) and free airplane rides for kids ages 8–17 will be offered.

At last year’s event, over 50 airplanes, from as far away as Maryland, flew in and over 400 pounds of lobsters were flown home after the event. An even larger turnout is expected at this year's event.

For more information regarding the event, please call (207) 323-0616.
