Police Department Services
The Belfast Police Department provides a variety of services to the community. For the most part, many of these services are free of charge and provided as a courtesy. Special events or activities, however, that require additional manpower are conducted on a fee basis. This fee is based on the number of officers required and the length of the event.
House Check
The Belfast Police Department will keep an eye on homes, businesses, or other buildings while on routine patrol. The buildings or property must be accessible. If you would like to utilize this service, please stop by the Police Station and fill out a short questionnaire giving us permission to check your property:
112 Church Street
Belfast, ME 04915
Please provide contact phone numbers in case we find a problem. The Belfast Police Department provides this service as a courtesy, and we cannot assume liability for the premises.
Speed Board
In 2002 the Belfast Police Department was authorized to purchase a portable speed monitoring radar trailer. The trailer is equipped with a display board to alert motorists of their speed and flashes a warning to vehicles exceeding the allowable speed limit. The Belfast Police Department will place the speed board on your street by request if you feel that speeding is an ongoing problem in the area. The trailer is set up in the morning and taken down in the evening on a daily basis. Due to expense of the equipment it is currently not available for loan to other agencies.
