Belfast Common

Features

  1. Benches
  2. Picnic Tables

In 1996, MBNA provided funding to the City for the purchase of a former poultry processing plant overlooking Belfast Harbor. They cleared the land of abandoned factory buildings, and the area was designated as a park in 1999. Largely open with fabulous views of Penobscot Bay, the Belfast Common has lovely trees and gardens as well as a small amphitheater, benches, and picnic tables.

Used for sledding in the winter and flying kites, performances, picnics and lazing in the sun in the summer, this is one of Belfast’s prized areas, beautiful for boaters to view at from the water or from across the harbor. This park is the site of the annual Maine Celtic Celebration and the finish line for the American Lung Association’s Bicycle Trek Across Maine.
