CITY OF BELFAST EMPLOYEE COVID-19 RESPONSE POLICY
Effective Monday, March 7, 2022
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends wearing a face covering in indoor public settings in areas where there is substantial or high transmission level of COVID-19. As current CDC data for Waldo County indicates that the community transmission level is medium, in all City of Belfast facilities masks are now optional.
Employees and citizens may choose to wear mask at any time and are encouraged to do so.
The CDC measures the COVID-19 Community Levels by looking at the combination of three metrics - new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the past 7 days, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days - to determine the COVID-19 community level.
Using this data, the COVID-19 community level is classified as low, medium, or high. This data can be found on the CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html
