[ARCHIVED] Belfast Creative Coalition Announces the Launch of its Arts and Culture Events Calendar

The Belfast Creative Coalition is pleased to announce the launch of its Arts and Cultural Events Calendar at www.belfastcreativecoalition.org. This new website will help visitors and locals find out what’s going on during any given day in Waldo County. The site currently lists art openings, lectures, workshops, musical performances, festivals, etc. The new website platform offers remarkable tools to visitors such as advanced search, Google Maps, buttons to synchronize with various calendars, and social network widgets. These tools will allow visitors to find local events, local artists and local food quickly.

Listing on the website is free and the Coalition invites people, organizations, and businesses to list their venues and events. It is easy to log in and create a listing. Artists, farmers, crafts persons, musicians, actors, etc., can promote themselves by listing under the "venue" web button. Creative ventures of all kinds can upload samples of work and videos and create a link to their websites.

The Mission of the Belfast Creative Coalition is to cultivate the creative economy in Waldo County. The Coalition’s goal is to create a new platform that will offer greater exposure and fill more seats at Belfast area cultural events. “MidCoast Maine is home to many talented artists. We are fortunate to live in such a culturally rich area. It is not uncommon to have a performance or an art opening with artists that show internationally. We want people to know about these events and so we have created this website to promote them. We don’t want to bring in too many people, but it is always more fun to play to a full house,” says Kimberly Callas, Belfast Creative Coalition's coordinator.

The Belfast Creative Coalition is a collection of arts and cultural groups, businesses, municipal officials and individuals in Belfast and Waldo County partnering to improve promotion and coordination of activities, share information and resources, and collaborate on joint economic development fronts. Its executive committee is made up of the City of Belfast, Our Town Belfast, the Hutchinson Center, Waterfall Arts and community leaders. Belfast Creative Coalition is funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. The website was created in partnership with Bonneville Consulting.
