Comprehensive Planning Committee Openings
The City of Belfast has immediate openings on the Comprehensive Planning Committee.
A Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan) is a City produced, policy guidance document that outlines how we want the City to generally approach the future (10-15 years). It covers a broad (comprehensive) variety of subjects.
A Comp Plan Committee is a group of Belfast residents appointed by the Council who inventory and analyze City demographic information, collect Belfast citizen opinion through neighborhood meetings and works directly with a Planning Consultant who assists in drafting written policy recommendations that eventually go before the Council for their consideration and possible approval. The Committee typically meets once month (more if needed) under the guidance of consulting firm, The Musson Group.
The Comprehensive Planning Committee is made up of 7 Belfast citizens; one from each of the City’s 5 Wards and 2 at large. Currently there are 2 vacancies, one for the Ward 2 position and one for the Ward 5 position.
All applicants must be a Belfast resident and applications must be received on or before 5:00 p.m. on September 28, 2020. Before appointing members the City Council will conduct interviews of all interested applicants.
Anyone interested in serving on this committee should obtain an application from the City Clerk’s office at City Hall 131 Church Street, Belfast, Maine 04915 or the City website www.cityofbelfast.org.
