It is with deep regret and sadness that the Belfast Parks and Recreation Department and the Belfast City Council have decided NOT to open the City Park Pool this summer, due to COVID-19 and the pandemic. This decision was made after much discussion and consideration.
Instead, City Council and the Parks and Recreation Department has decided to put the effort and fiscal dollars into repairs and necessary improvements to the pool and the building. We are looking to re-roof the pool bathhouse, have new doors installed and paint the interior of the bathhouse and changing areas.
In addition we will be drafting specifications in order to go out to bid on the re-surfacing of the pool, which is well over 35 years old.
Again, we regret to inform you of this decision, but it has been decided with the health and safety of our citizens in mind. Let’s turn this difficult situation in to an opportunity to improve our beloved City Park Pool.
Thank you for your continued support of the City’s recreational facilities and areas.
Norm Poirier, Director
Belfast Parks and Recreation Department
