Maine Technology Institute Seed Grant Program
This program provides grants of up to $12,500 to support early-stage research and development activities for new products and services that lead to the market. Funded activities can include activities like business planning, market research, intellectual property filing, and prototype testing. Businesses must be in one of the following sectors:
  • Biotechnology
  • Composites and advanced materials
  • Environmental technologies
  • Forest products and agriculture
  • Information technology
  • Marine technology and aquaculture
  • Precision manufacturing

Maine Technology Institute Development Award Program
This program provides conditional loans that fund $50,000-$500,000 (corporate research and development) or $30,000-$100,000 (technology transfer research and development) per application for research and development of new and/or enhanced products, processes, or services leading to commercialization. Businesses must be in one of the sectors listed under the seed grant program.
