NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 

The Belfast City Council, at its meeting of Tuesday, May 6, 2008, beginning at 7:00 p.m. or as soon as practical thereafter, in the Council Chambers of Belfast City Hall, which is located at 131 Church Street, shall conduct a public hearing and Second Reading of proposed amendments to the City Code of Ordinances.  Amendments are to the Chapter 98, Technical Standards, Article V, Traffic Control, and Article VIII, Parking and Loading Facilities, and Chapter 102, Zoning, Article VIII, Supplementary District Regulations, Division 2, Aesthetics, Screening and Landscaping.  The amendments mostly involve revisions to the current parking standards. 

The public is encouraged to attend the May 6th hearing and to express comment.  Written and email comment will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on May 6th.  Written comment should be sent to Roberta Fogg, City Clerk, City of Belfast, 131 Church St, Belfast, Me, 04915, and email comment can be sent to cityclerk@cityofbelfast.org

The text of the proposed amendments is available for inspection in Belfast City Hall at both the City Clerk’s and Department of Planning and Community Development’s offices; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  The amendments also can be viewed on the city website; cityofbelfast.org.  Questions should be directed to Wayne Marshall, City Planner, at 338-1417, ext 25, or by email at planner@cityofbelfast.org

H) First reading of proposed amendments to City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 80, In-Town Commercial Design.  Amendments would require applicants in certain areas of the downtown to comply with design recommendations of the In-Town Design Review Committee. 

I) Second and final reading of proposed amendments to the City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 98, Technical Standards, and Chapter 102, Zoning. Amendments mostly address proposed revisions to the current requirements regarding parking.
