SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING

2)   Roll Call:  Mayor Michael Hurley; Councilors Larry Theye, Roger Lee, Catherine Heberer, Robert Gordon, and James Roberts, Sr., City Manager Joseph Slocum and Deputy City Clerk Robin Reynolds.

4)   Public Hearing:  

The Belfast City Council shall conduct a public hearing on Monday, October 29, 2007, beginning at 7:00 p.m. or as soon as practical thereafter, in the Council Chambers of Belfast City Hall, regarding proposed amendments to the Belfast Code of Ordinances, Chapter 102, Zoning; specifically:

  • Article V, District Regulations, Division 24, Route 3 Commercial District:
  • Article V, District Regulations, Division 25, Office Park District: and
  • Article IX, Performance Standards, Division 3, Nonresidential Development Standards-Route 3 Commercial.

The proposed amendments involve establishing specific structure setback, buffer yard, and screening standards for any development that occurs on the so-called ‘Les Hills’ property owned by Bank of America; reference Tax Map 5, Lots 11, 19, 19A, 21, 23, and 36A, and clarifying where a retail business can occur in the Office Park district.    The hearing also is the Council’s Second Reading of these Ordinance amendments.  

The public is invited to attend the hearing and to express their comments to the Council.  Comment also may be submitted in writing or by email.  Written comment must be received by 5:00 p.m. on October 29th by writing: Roberta Fogg, City Clerk, City of Belfast, 131 Church Street, Belfast, ME, 04915.  Email comment must be received by 5:00 p.m. on October 29th at the following email address: cityclerk@cityofbelfast.org

The second reading language is now available for inspection at the City Clerk and Department of Planning & Community Development offices in City Hall, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on the City website, cityofbelfast.org.
