City of Belfast
City Council Workshop
Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 6:30pm
Belfast City Hall - Council Chambers
Coastal Walkway Project
This is a City Council
Workshop to discuss the Coastal Walkway Project. They have invited the Parks
and Recreation Commission, Pedestrian, Hiking and Biking Committee and the
Harbor Advisory Committee to participate in this workshop.
The goal of this work session is to do an overview
of the project and to identify what steps need to be addressed to get us to a
design drafting phase. Obviously dimensions, materials, accessories such as
lighting, benches etc will need to be resolved but so will the location and type
of connectivity to the Steamboat Landing Site.
The Council has expressed
the following desires even though there were not defined votes on any of these
issues:
- That the project move
quickly and be done this spring- I think that means all decisions made and
drafting specifications for bidders by the latter part of January- for a bid
opening in March with work to start at the end of April (Weather)
- That we will have some
type of Project Manager- certainly during construction
- That the project should
include lighting even on the temporary walkway through the Stinson property
- That we should try to
stay within the budget of $440,000
- That the walkway should
be attractive
- That the City Council
will be the lead Committee or group to oversee this project
The public is invited to
attend but not participate in this workshop.
